A College Must! Past Review

AIFS: Athens - American College of Greece

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Studying abroad was most definitely worthwhile. I wish I did it sooner so I could have spent a year abroad. This has been the best experience of my college career by far. I have always traveled internationally and lived outside the US for a good chunk of my childhood. I have learned to appreciate other cultures more than I already did prior to this experience. Through solo trips, I have also learned that I am much more independent than I thought.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I traveled to a different country or island every weekend and truly didn't go over budget. It helped that AIFS provided us with debit cards that were meant for food but could be used for anything.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent about 20 euro a week on groceries. Other than that all I paid for was transportation which was no more than 5-10 euro a week.
