Adelante: Edinburgh - Equine Summer Program in Scotland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Very great learning experience! I really enjoyed learning more about English riding as well as the classes offered here.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Louise and Gillian were the best! Robert and Liz were awesome for riding instructors!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Some lack of planning for our arrival and some of the staff were not the most helpful at times due to their busy schedules.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We weren't moved into the dorms we were supposed to be in until half way through the program. Sometimes accommodations were not good and or not cleaned.

* Food:

Food was very good!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Very much enjoyed spending time with some of the Scottish students

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I was very disappointed that there is no school nurse available. Some students needed some medical attention and received no help.

* Safety:

Safety was overall decent. Some of the dorms need to be better about locking.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

More expensive costs than anticipated but this is due to the large cost differences between America and Scotland.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 20 pounds
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you can live without it, do.
