Adelante: Edinburgh - Equine Summer Program in Scotland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about myself and gained many friendships. This trip was definitely worth it.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Overall this was a great experience. The riding was fun and the classes were very interesting. I'm definitely going home with some new information.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The teachers we had were absolutely amazing! They were always there for us if we had any questions. Although there was some miscommunication with the rest of the communication the teachers made up for it.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was nice to have a room and bathroom to myself but the beds were uncomfortable and the bathrooms were tiny.

* Food:

The campus food wasn't the best but it was nice to have meals prepared for us. There were a few good meals with good desserts.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The social life was great once you got out to the cities. It would have been nice to have the culture night but going around to the different places helped us get a taste of the culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe. The college administration was a little overprotective.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

The exchange rate made things very expensive.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? £150
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Plan for the exchange rate. Even though I did I brought less then I really needed. The transportation fees are what costed me a lot.
