Use the upcoming summer months to get a step ahead of your academic schedule and learn more about the Francophone world. APA's six-week online Francophone summer program examines a wide array of interdisciplinary topics through courses led by one or two French, Moroccan, and Senegalese professors. Guest speakers, engaging assignments, and out-of-the-box virtual cultural activities ensure a well-rounded experience and time well spent!

Choose to follow one or two courses. Each course is four credit hours.

Taught in French:


  • Colonization, Decolonization and End of the French Colonial Empire: France and Senegal

  • Cross-Cultural Management


  • Culture and Women's Rights in the Francophone World 

  • Development Economics

  • Francophone Cinema in Focus: Sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb


  • Gender and Francophone Literature 

Receive weekly one-on-one language support to work on oral comprehension and proofreading and editing papers for class.

Taught in English: 

  • Cross-Cultural Management


  • Culture and Women's Rights in the Francophone World 

  • Francophone Cinema in Focus: Sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb

Connect with your peers during live, weekly cultural activities such as cooking class, introduction to African dance, and Arabic calligraphy.

Academic Programs Abroad (APA) Scholarships

Become the voice abroad for APA with regular blog and social media postings. Semester awards begin at $500 and summer awards begin at $300. Eligible for bonuses at the end of term for outstanding work.

Deadlines:
Summer: February 1 Fall Semester/Academic Year: March 1 Spring Semester: October 1

Guidelines/Requirements:
Previous scholarship recipients have had a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater, previous experience running social media accounts for a business or organization, shown a keen interest in engaging in French and Francophone culture, and have had a serious desire to take part in a full-immersion program.

Become your cohort’s photographic or videographic historian for your term abroad. Your photos and/or videos may be featured on the APA website or in future promotional materials!

$300 - 500.00
