"I got to learn about a foreign subject matter (the ocean, sailing, New Zealand) through the lenses of multiple disciplines in a totally hands-on , practical environment. Living aboard a ship was also a very valuable, once in a lifetime opportunity. I made friends that I had to lead, be led by, learn alongside, and rely on. This ..."

"I learned how to be more independent and responsible living alone in a foreign country."
A student Middlebury College
"It was a fantastic experience that I wish I could do again. I learned a lot about living independently and making my own choices. I absolutely loved living in a foreign country and trying to figure out ways to communicate despite the obvious language barrier although most Czech people speak English."
A student Middlebury College
"I got to explore and live in a beautiful part of the world and meet lots of great people."
Nicholas U Middlebury College
"This program is completely unique. It is extremely intensive and challenging. There is hardly any free time and at times hugely frustrating and disorganized. But it is also one of the best things I have ever done in terms of expanding my world view, critical thinking skills, and personal growth. The experiences you get acces..."

"I gained the ability to be independent, meet a wide range of people, and experience an entirely new culture. Prague was different enough culturally so that I was definitely out of my comfort zone, but the presence of Americans allowed me to get through the culture shock very easily. After talking to a range of other students com..."

"I gained independence and an increased sense of self in a very secure environment. I gained a heightened taste for exploration and going outside of my comfort zone. I made friends with people from all around the world. I got to learn for the sake of learning. It was absolutely worthwhile."

"independence, so much traveling, absolutely worthwhile, would choose london again just not UCL"
A student Middlebury College
"Aside from the coursework, living in a foreign country was a very unique and great experience. Furthermore the ability to easily and relatively cheaply travel throughout Europe made the experience very worthwhile."

"I did not want to study abroad, and yet it was the best experience of my life. I really think it will help me in all facets of life. A lot of new perspectives. "
A student Middlebury College
"Lots of friends, a new perspective on American influence abroad, a deep interest in the War on Drugs and its affects abroad, appreciation for Andean culture and concepts, and a deep understanding of the current Bolivian government and its policies. "

"I learned a lot of math and a lot about personal independence. Absolutely one of the best trips I've ever taken."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned how to compose a short story, Czech Culture and Cinema and that life exists outside of Middlebury. It was worthwhile because I also got to interact with students from a different University. "
Demetrius B Middlebury College
"I learned that I can do anything. There is so much more outside of this bubble."
Esme V Middlebury College
"For me it was so worthwhile because while I was familiar with Western Europe, I knew nothing about eastern Europe. I am also very interested in the transition from communist economies to a free market economy so I learned a great deal into that that I would not have been able to learn at Middlebury."
A student Middlebury College
"The experience at my senatorial internship was invaluable. "

"Yes, how to live on my own"
A student Middlebury College
"I learned how to live on my own, interact with people from all over the world and how to have a more global perspective."
A student Middlebury College
"Absolutely. It was incredibly challenging and I was in over my head. I went to the largest city in Europe, where I speak zero of the language entirely alone without any sort of program. In retrospect, it was arrogant and stupid to do it that way and paralyzed me in the beginning. I had done the same in Argentina a few years back..."
A student Middlebury College
"I gained experience living in a city environment, and visiting a European country--two things that were very new to me. I also was able to get a glimpse of worldviews other than those shared by Americans."
A student Middlebury College
"The overall experience was amazing. I was exposed to an entirely new schooling system and challenged in a way I have not though possible. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone and now I believe my comfort zone has grown. I have not been home in a long time and while it makes me miss and appreciate the things at home, I k..."

"CIEE admin is awesome, Amsterdam is the best city in the world, embrace your independence and thrive."
A student Middlebury College
"On top of the usual "experiencing a new culture" line, I met some of the nicest and most interesting people I have ever come across. I lived in a dorm unlike anything we have in this country, where 150 people felt like a single family. It was a seamless transition into that family unit and I felt at home from Day One. I couldn't..."
