Brandeis University
University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

"It was definitely worthwhile and gave me new insight into my own Italian heritage. I learned to be more adventurous and to seize advantage of opportunities- life is to short to second guess ourselves. Before studying abroad, I had always dreamed of traveling but had never had the opportunity to do so. Boarding that plane alone a..."

"My experience in Arles was great because, as a smaller town, it really forced me to speak French with locals rather than English. I got to learn a lot about French culture and my language skills greatly improved."

"My internship placement was the best part about my experience. I was able to acquire work experience in an international setting and learned to adapt to the cultural differences. The program was worth it because of the internship!"

"I feel like I learned more about personal growth, rather than academic growth. Academically, I do not feel like I have grown. "

"It was worth it because I've always wanted to attend school in my hometown for once. "

"My program was very much influenced by the type of people on the trip and our supervisors. Our semester also had more issues than a normal semester there would, which was not the staff's fault. However, the way certain issues and problems were handled made living at the Center uncomfortable and stressful for a large part of the ..."

"if I were studying art, Siena School could've been a good option, but for sustainability it was a sham. I learned to trust myself more and not take anyone too seriously. Essentially, I learned to be more self-reliant and independent."

"To be honest, the quality of education is much higher at Brandeis University. The workload and academic pressure is stronger at Brandeis. Also, you are losing 25% of your opportunity to raise your GPA. If you are a student who wants to academically learn and do well in your school work to pursue higher education, I strongly reco..."

"An appreciation for the effort of anyone trying to speak a language when it is not their native language, lots of new knowledge, 2 more moms and families. Absolutely worthwhile"

"The experiences through traveling were amazing"

"While I believe I did gain a lot of independence skills, I am not sure I couldn't have learned them while living in a similar housing situation at my home university. If I could go back and do it again I think I would not have gone abroad at all. I would have been better off staying at my home university. "
A student Brandeis University
"A real sense of worldly perspective. The protests did make me think about the education systems of South Africa and the US, as well as how systemic racism differs between the two countries. The concepts were complex and interesting, and the conversations I had were incredibly worthwhile. "
