Scotland: Time of my life! Past Review

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My understanding of the world has changed. I had an amazing time, but that's because I went there for myself, if I wanted to do something (like go see a show at Moulin Rouge or go to Ireland) both of which I did alone, I did it, I didn't care if nobody else wanted to to. For my future plans, I hope to one day move to Scotland!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The American Professors were the same but the Scottish ones were more difficult, expected more out of us than our home Professors

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I think the whole program went really well for me, and I'd do it again if I had the opportunity!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We lived in a Palace! It was so cool to learn the history behind the Palace, the town that we lived in was small but had everything we needed and it was a short bus trip to the big city.

* Food:

Sometimes there was not enough food, or it was bad, so we had to go into town later to get something else.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

London was amazing! The Highlands was cool but I wouldn't do it again through the program. It was too much of museums,forts, boring stuff. I would have preferred a hiking,kayaking, climbing kind of trip in the Highlands, I feel that is the only way to experience it.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Our host city was kind of sketchy, the people of the town did not always take well to us. But for the most part everything went well. 2 guys on our trip got punched/attacked, I am unsure of the reasons. The healthcare was great! Convenient, and nice!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Any student would benefit no matter the major! I think it should be required to study abroad at least one semester of your college years.
