What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a new world view, seeing many things differently with new open eyes. I am much more open to new cultures and ideas. It was the best experience of my life and I can't wait to travel more and experience new cultures.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

At the beginning I was spending way too much money each week. I had set my budget too high. By the end of my time in Wales, I had cut my budget down to a fourth of what I was spending early on.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 40 Dollars a week
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Keep extra change and pocket money in a safe place and have that as a "just in case" fund. If you have any issues or randomly decide to travel somewhere, it is always good to have extra cash lying around.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Traveling can be as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it. The "budget" travel experience is better quality than people think and a great way to see the world. Making friends is easier than you think and you have more in common with people than you realize. Also, people are very helpful. Sometimes the easiest thing is to go up to a person and ask for directions or assistance and more often than not, he or she will be delighted to help a stranger out.

The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
