Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Offered plenty of office hours and meetings to make sure we were very prepared in going abroad.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Our dorm was called the International house. Was up in the mountains and not very accessible to downtown Hong Kong. We lived in a flat with about 6 rooms each having 2-3 people. Had a living room and kitchen.

Was in a bad location. Took about 30-45 minutes to get to the train station so when we went out it took a very long time to get back.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Safety in Mainland China wasn't as high as was in Hong Kong.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Make paying for a cultural event optional because we all paid but weren't able to attend all the cultural events which wasted our money. Let us buy our own books so we have the option of getting them used.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Go in with an open mind. Living accomodations aren't that great but the faster you can get over it, the more you can embrace all the other great things that Asia has to offer. Learn a few key phrases in Cantonese and Manderin.
