Inaugurated in 1995 by the late King Hassan II of Morocco and the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane redines the classic American liberal arts educational experience on an architecturally stunning modern campus amidst the glory of Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains. AUI was designed to be innovative in instruction, through the use of the latest technology and learning resources. It is known for its international scope, purpose, and influence. At present roughly 30% of the university population is international. The university boasts a comfortable, safe, and exciting residential student life on campus featuring hundres of student-run activities, with over 96 percent of undergraduates living on campus with roommmates from around Morocco and the world.
