University of Nicosia - Global Semesters: Nicosia - Semester in Cyprus

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned to adapt in situations quickly. I think I could have learned these skills elsewhere but I had fun traveling

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I got sick right before orientation started. We are not allowed to go to a regular doctor so I had to go to the emergency room. The program did not assist me in this and I had to go alone due to the fact that orientation started. Because I had to go alone, I wasn't able to accurately communicate the issue with the doctors and ended up having strep for 5 weeks before returning to the hospital and demanding antibiotics.

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

I don;'t think that this program was accurately described to me. I was told I would be living in much better conditions. I don't think that this school is well respected and even though I got an easy semester, academically, it isn't going to be fun when I have to go take classes and I have no idea what is happening in them because I didn't learn what I was supposed to learn the semester abroad. I don't think that the program was well organized.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 200+
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? don't take taxis. flying from Cyprus to anywhere is really expensive. if you want to travel a lot for cheap, don't come here
