University of Nicosia - Global Semesters: Nicosia - Semester in Cyprus

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
After leaving Nicosia, I have a new outlook on life. I am more excited for each journey that I will take. My professor and the classes I took helped too provide guidance on my future life plans.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

As a college student, being abroad at UNIC was the first time I truly enjoyed all of my classes. I gained valuable knowledge from each class and had amazing professors.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Program directors and supervisors were always available wether through call, email, or in person.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I never had a reason to use healthcare so can not speak on this topic.

* Safety:

Nicosia is quite safe. I never felt as though something bad would happen to me.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

I would simply choose another program so that I can gain a new experience. I'm not a fan on reliving things twice; it's never the same.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

There will always be expenses that come up, especially miscellaneous ones. Staying on a budget did not work for me.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? approximately 100 euros
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Save as much money as you can before you go! There will be so many activities you will want to partake in and places you will want to travel to and you don't want to be left out.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
