University of Leicester: Leicester - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
You realize that America is a box and we don't really care much about the rest of the world. I could easily see myself with a job in England in the future.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Very accommodating to study abroad students.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Not close to much, but taxis are available. The dorm was a large house with 14 male students from the UK, Poland, S. Korea, China, America, Spain and other locations. Provided baths and kitchen and vending machines. Must bring own bedding and cookware.

* Food:

Times were rigid but the food was good.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Nothing planned really. Just make plans yourself to travel on weekends and go all over.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Very safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? When traveling there are always unforeseen expenses. Suck it up and pay for it. I slept on streets, in airports and terrible hostels. It didn't matter because I knew I was only getting this opportunity for a limited time so I traveled spontaneously and none of it mattered. Made good stories and built character.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
