What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I absolutely loved it! I am extremely happy that I went, and wouldn't have changed it for the world! I met some amazing people, and got to visit places I had only seen in books! Thinking back, it all seems like a dream because I can't believe I was so lucky to have gotten to experience the things I did. Definitely a worthwhile experience.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The academics at this University were not as tough as I had expected, but certainly not easy either. Like any other university, you must go to class and do your homework, and you will do fine! Grading systems were a little different than in the US, but easy to get used to.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Overall, the study abroad administration was helpful, and easy to access. There were a few times that it seemed like it took quite a while to get paperwork done, or get responses to important questions. But it usually worked out!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My housing was on the campus that all of my classes were not, so that was quite inconvenient, but they did provide a shuttle from one campus to the other. I lived in an apartment style building with 5 other people. We all had our own room, there was a kitchen, one shower, two toilets, and 3 sinks in the whole house. It was difficult with 6 people and only one shower, but we made it work. I lived with 2 people from England, 2 people doing study abroad from Asia, and another doing study abroad from Ukraine. We all got along quite well.

* Food:

England's food is quite bland tasting to me, but I could always find something to eat! It was very very different from the US in the fact that food it definitely not as easily accessible as it is here. There are hardly any fast food restaurants and if there are, no one drives cars, so they aren't that easy to get to. Also, eating out is much more expensive than it is here.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The first week, all study abroad students got together for various activities, and it gave us a chance to all meet one another. That was a very good experience and helped us all to make friends with people who were in the same situation. Also, there were planned trips every month or so to different locations around England. I took advantage of just about all of them and they were all a blast!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I never had any issues with health. I felt very safe. We had numerous security guards throughout campus who would respond to any situation quickly. Also, there was a gated entrance located near where I lived, and they were pretty strict on letting only students in. It was a very safe campus.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

I went to England, and my first language is English, so it wasn't necessarily difficult to communicate, but you might be surprised at how many words the British and the Americans say differently. Also, my University was very multicultural, so there were many different languages being spoken around me.
