This course is designed for students with no prior knowledge of Spoken Arabic or the written language (MSA). An emphasis will be put on the Levantine Dialects. The language of instruction will be a combination of Arabic and English in order to explain the foundations of the Spoken Arabic. Students are introduced to the Spoken Arabic first of all through the rich world of greetings and then by exposing them to a few chosen topics that are necessary to facilitate their way in everyday conversations. Teaching these topics will be based on explanations of basic grammar as well.This program also exposes the students to the fascinating Arab culture, Arabic songs and conversations.The classes will be held online through ZOOM classroom system. The students will also use the Moodle system for assignments’ submission (details will be sent by the International School at the university after registration).

Academics The Arabic Language Program awards 3 academic credits. Meetings take place four days a week for two to four hours each day – total: 40 academic hours for the course. 1. Please note that most classes meet from 18:30 - 20:00 Haifa time. This is 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time and 8:30 -10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. 2. *Three classes (July 7, 13, 16) meet from 18:00 - 19:30 Haifa time. This is 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Eastern time and 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time. 3. On six days there are double sessions. They appear in the daily timetables. The second session meets from 20:30 - 22:00 Haifa time. This is 1:30 – 3 p.m. Eastern Time and 10:30 a.m. -12:00 noon Pacific Time.
