Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
While I did spend most of my free time working/studying, the academic rigor wasn't as intense as that at my home school. Each course has a final exam, which involved some memorization and was writing-intensive. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Dorm style living in spacious rooms. |
* Food: |
The food at SFS Center in Siem Reap is amazing. I eat a plant-based diet, and there was always plenty of yummy options at the center. I never had any complaints about the food during the entire semester, even when we were traveling. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
There was some but not consistent or long-term social and cultural integration because the program is a residential program where we were with the same cohort all the time. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
For safety purposes, the program had a buddy-system by which students must go out with a buddy during the first two weeks of the program. For the entirety of the program, buddy-system was in place after dark as well as when we were traveling and not at the center in Siem Reap. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
|
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Beginner |
