About

Students will have the opportunity to learn about food science, food processing, and sustainable nutrition in the context of Brazilian agriculture. Arriving initially in Vicosa, the program will take several short food science courses and seminars at the outstanding University of Vicosa. There will be hands on experience, site visits to processing facilities, and cultural activities. The program will then travel to Manaus, located in the heart of the Amazon rain forest. There students will tour the forest, research facilities, and visit the Federal University of Manaus where they will learn about traditional agriculture and food processing methods. The program will then move onto Rio de Janeiro where they will visit historical sites, learn more about the Brazilian culture, and finally participate in the sustainable nutrition projects conducted at the Federal University of Rio de Janerio.
