Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The Syracuse Abroad program has AMAZING course selections! It gave me the opportunity to take classes in subjects I would not have taken on home campus. The professors were really nice, and understood that we were there for an abroad experience, so didn't give us work that was too rigorous!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program was run very well! Staff were always super accessible

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my London Flat! While I did have to share a room with two other people, the rooms were still super spacious. I lived super close to class, which was so convenient!

* Food:

Food was great! It was a little bit of an adjustment to get used to cooking for myself everyday after living in a dorm for so long. Also, it was very difficult to fight the temptation of going out to dinner all the time!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Syracuse has a London campus, so instead of being immersed in a British Academic experience, I was in classes with all Americans. I wish I had more chances to interact with British people my age. Those opportunities were there, but you had to actively seek them. If I had a little more time, I think I would have tried.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I personally didn't have any experiences with health care, but I didn't hear anything negative from the people who did!

* Safety:

We were well educated on the risk of pick pocketing throughout Europe, which was good info to know and kept me on high alert.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I love absolutely everything about London. This was the first semester ever where I felt actively engaged and interested in every single one of my classes. I made great friends, and had the opportunity to do some amazing travel!

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is an expensive city, and the exchange rate to US dollars isn't great. However, I think with proper planning it's totally possible to do abroad on a budget!

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • London as a city
  • Opportunity to travel
  • options for class
* What could be improved?
  • More interaction with local students
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? It's SO important to plan, budget, and set your priorities beforehand. Also, don't feel like your abroad needs to look like other people's! Just because you can't travel every weekend, it doesn't mean that your experience is any less than anyone else's
