What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I was able to see how other people lived and I got to really immerse myself in a culture different than what I am used to. It was definitely worthwhile.

My host family was AMAZING. They were so welcoming, fun to be around, and all around just the perfect fit for me.

I never felt like I was in any danger in Heredia.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I really enjoyed everything Costa Rica had to offer and I feel like my time there is unfinished. There are still so many things there that I want to experience.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I bought a lot of souvenirs so around $100.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Keep a notebook of your expenses so you can keep track of what you've spent and what you have left.

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

Everyone in Costa Rica was very receptive to us speaking Spanish and genuinely wanted to help us learn and be able to communicate with us.

How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Watch a lot of TV shows and listen to a lot of music that has Spanish in it. Also, try to speak it as much as possible with friends if you know anyone that speaks spanish.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? 3 weeks is not enough time. I wish I could've stayed longer because there was a lot I feel like I missed out on.
