Study Abroad Programs in Costa Rica

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I don't think there's a single person in our group that didn't make some serious realizations while here. It'd be a joke to try to sum it up on this review.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Classes are easy to get good grades in, but are set up in a way that is very conducive to learning

Janiva is a coordinating genius.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Host family was wonderful and very understanding.

* Food:

I was provided with 3 hot meals a day

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I was as integrated as I allowed myself to get. Made several local friends.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I had zero health issues but when other kids did, Janiva helped them through the doctors office.

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

You could make it through the entire program having only spent like $150, but it would be quite boring and you'd have nothing to do or explore on weekends.
