What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much from this program: about myself, the country and political science. This is an experience that was so worthwhile and amazing. I do not even have the words to explain what I gained and what an amazing opportunity it was.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Dr. Tkacik is an engaging and knowledgeable professor. He balanced teaching us the relevant information while also applying it to the trip.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Our hosts were excellent. There was some confusion (hence the half star done), but nothing they were unable to handle.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The dorms were acceptable. While they were not extremely nice, they were functional for the time we were there.

* Food:

The food was excellent! A lot more Italian influences than I expected but still very good.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The Slovak students were very helpful. One student in particular went out of her way to make us feel comfortable.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I had no health care experience, but imagine it would have been excellent.

* Safety:

I felt extremely safe in Bratislava. We had bus passes and overall it is a friendly, safe city. No problems were had and I would be totally comfortable exploring it on my own.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Bratislava itself was a very cheap city. Some of the other places we visited were more expensive, but I was fine. In the 4 weeks I was there I spent about $500.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $150 a week.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Limit the number of souvenirs you need to bring home. That gets expensive quick. Instead try taking pictures and framing them when you get home for certain people.
