Smith College: Geneva - Smith in Geneva

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes! I got a broader understanding of different cultures. I was very socially satisfied because I was able to travel all over europe, experience different cultures and meet interesting people. I definitely came home with a greater respect not only for other cultures, but my own culture as well.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The system was OK. There wasn't an organized way to pick classes at the university

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There were about 20 students total in the program. The program has a center where we take classes. My expectations were met outside of the program in individual and group travel, but I have to say that the disorganized nature of the administration was very disappointing.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The apartments were a GREAT aspect of the program. I was truly immersed into the european culture and was able to meet many interesting people that I would otherwise not come across in my travels abroad.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Geneva is an extremely expensive city so expect to spend more than anticipated.
