What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely. I absolutely loved it. It made me more interested in conducting field research.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I definitely learned alot, but the course load was alot easier than at my college. BUt I loved the way they taught because it was based in experiential learning.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Strengths was probably the academic director, and the excursions/homestays.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

We were served alot of food in our homestays.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It was all amazing but the most memorable excursion was probably Robben Island

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

You just have to use your common sense like you would at home

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? They give you a stipend. I ended up spending hardly any of my own money. I spent maybe $400 of my own money and most of that was for gifts.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? It depends on what your spending habits are like at home.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
Language acquisition improvement?

Everyone who spoke that language/two of my home stay families. I needed to use it in one of my homestays. I did use it almost every day but if i didn't know it I probably would have been fine. However, it did help.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
