A Whole New Theatrical Experience Past Review

By (Drama, Theater, Theatre Arts, Brandeis University) - abroad from 09/04/2015 to 12/12/2015 with

Sarah Lawrence College: London - London Theatre Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much about myself as a person and a performer and I embraced things that were unfamiliar. I also learned to look at life from a more positive perspective and look on the bright sides of issues. Of course it was worthwhile!!!

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Intensive, conservatory style program with incredible faculty and staff.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing was very nice, but it was a bit far from the campus. Luckily, we had a bus stop around the corner!

* Food:

London is a great city because there are so many different options of diverse food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Because our program was all American students, I did not feel as though I got to make very many friends from England.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I never felt unsafe in London.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is a very expensive city, and because their currency was doing so well, it was about 150% more expensive than goods in the US. However, it was definitely possible to live on a student's budget, as museums are typically free or cheap and travel is also cheap throughout Europe.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $100

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Shakespeare

Course Department: Theatre
Instructor: Russel Bentley
Instruction Language: English
Comments: This class was rigorous, but I always felt encouraged to go up and participate. We were graded based on the quality of our work, and so we had to work hard for results, but in the end, I learned so much. I once was afraid of Shakespeare, but now I am excited to do his works.
Credit Transfer Issues: No
