England: Great Country, poor education Past Review

By (Neurobiology and Neurosciences., Wellesley College) for

Queen Mary University of London Study Abroad programme

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes it was. London was a great city to be in. I really liked that I was just a short walk away from the center of the city. I was able to see all of London and I traveled around England and Europe.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There were a lot of study abroad students at Queen Mary that semester. The host county administration were sometimes hard to get in touch with. My academic expectations were not met.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

It was self catered so I was able to make my own food.

* Safety:

London is overall a pretty safe city. I didn't always feel safe in East London though.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 60-70 dollars a week on food and about 25-35 dollars a week on other personal expenses
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Public transportation is really expensive so plan that into your budget.
