London with an academic focus. Past Review

By (Management, Clark University - Worcester) - abroad from 09/29/2013 to 06/18/2014 with

London School of Economics (LSE): London - General Course, Year-Long Study Abroad Programme

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I felt that I learned to be more independent, and I learned more about myself than I ever thought possible. I also think that I learned to appreciate other cultures, and most importantly that there is no one best way of doing things.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The academic rigor at the LSE is unparalleled.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were always there to answer any questions, and kept us well informed about our program.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Perfect!

* Food:

The food in my building was almost inedible. This should be taken with a grain of salt, since I am a rather picky eater.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

They informed us on how to use the GP and contact is needed.

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not very easily, London is a very expensive city.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 50
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Use the communal fridges, buying a lunch daily is too expensive .

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.

You went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you!

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

ID200

Course Department: Employment Relations
Instructor: Alexandra Beauregard
Instruction Language: English
Comments: The lower rating is entirely related to the overly harsh grading and the rather unhelpful class teachers. Otherwise, the material and lectures were very educational and I felt I gained a large amount from the course.
Credit Transfer Issues: No issues in terms of transferring credit. However, the grading was overly harsh and resulted, in my opinion, in undeserved lower grades.
