King's College London: London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about living independently in an unfamiliar environment and I think I became more resilient and healthy.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The academics were very rigorous and required extensive time management, self-awareness, and preparation.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There was always support available.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was the only study abroad student in my flat among younger King's students. This meant that the maturity level was lower and this was reflected in the kitchen cleanliness, unfortunately. I am grateful to have been placed in student housing but I would have appreciate at least one other older or study abroad student simply to have had a bit more company.

* Food:

I cooked for myself and food/grocery options near me were excellent.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I found it very hard to meet other student because it is such a large school and the way classes are set up. That said, London is a very accessible city and I loved my independent adventuring.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I loved my classes and loved all the performances I was able to go to in London. I wish I could have made more friends though.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $100 dollars.

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
