Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Professors were easy to set up study sessions. They would be in the library of the dorm building we stayed at. I liked how the language classes held no more than 10 people, and the most crowded class, History, had no more than 30 students.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The room was a suite-style; 4 suitemates in a 2-double bedroom setting with a bathroom. The room was small, but not much time was spent there since there was a lot of exploring to do in the town. Bed sheets were included, along with a pillow, glass, plate, table, shelves, a few hangers.

* Food:

authentic Polish food mostly, very delicious. pierogi, golabki, soups, salads, nalesniki, potato pancakes, etc.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

every weekend the school organized field trips. I saw Zakopane, Wieliczka (Salt Mine), Czestochowa, Auschwitz, Wawel

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced the language with my friends who came on the trip with me, and also with my grandparents, who live in the country. Polish needed to be used everyday when walking around the old city, "Stare Miasto". Many people spoke English, but I preferred Polish because I understood it when they spoke it better.

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I believe a person of Polish background or strong interest in the language will benefit most from this trip. It was very well-rounded where you learned not only in your classes, but also when you explored Stare Miasto. There was an educational aspect, as well as a great night-life experience.
