The ISEP program in Costa Rica is a designated Global Engagement Program Site, enabling students to extend their ISEP experience beyond the classroom through ISEP-facilitated community engagement opportunities.  These opportunities may include: volunteer work, service learning, independent study, community service, internships and/or research projects.

All students must enroll in 5 courses, including the required course, Spanish Language and Costa Rican Culture (mandatory for all students).  See "Hints for Researching Courses" below for more information.

Fine arts, history, international relations, Latin American studies and literature, and all General Education courses are appropriate for ISEP participants.  Please note that courses in Spanish studies are intended for native speakers of the language who plan to become Spanish teachers.  Upper-level courses in Spanish studies and literature require background knowledge and high-intermediate or advanced level of Spanish.
