DIS Summer in Scandinavia

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a much larger perspective on the differences in culture and how other people live. My life is forever changed by this trip and it was certainly worthwhile

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

You will definitely have to study and there are a lot of opportunities to learn if you take advantage of them!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Food in Copenhagen is great. If you like food you'll like Copenhagen. Even the few meals provided by the school were excellent.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I wish I would have spent more time with the Danes while there, but it was my fault. If you want a deeper immersion stay where other european students stay. (there is an option when selecting housing through DIS)

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Safest city I've ever been to. Be aware, but other than that you won't run into any problems here.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Best choice I've made.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It's an expensive city but you can definitely live cheaply if you choose.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 120
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you want to save money, pack lunches. That will save you the most. Buying food in the city for lunch is pretty expensive.
