DIS Copenhagen: Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes---traveling was very rewarding and DIS does give you three weeks so that was very nice. Copenhagen is a beautiful, amazing city and I'm really glad that I studied there. Danish is difficult to learn and not necessary to learn because all Danish people speak English as well--so don't take Danish unless your university requires that you do.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Challenging academics.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Not very organized and often frustrating.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Amazing housing options. I lived in shared housing and loved it. Very good location too.

* Food:

Danish food is okay.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Really great! DIS gives you THREE weeks for spring break so we were able to travel allll over Europe which was amazing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Denmark has virtually NO crime so I always felt extremely safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? It's expensive in Copenhagen so keep that in mind. DIS is academically challenging and you can't skip classes very often to travel on weekends---teachers are very strict.
