CISabroad (Center for International Studies): Stirling - Summer in Scotland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that I can do more on my own, and I gained a new level of maturity.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was a great experience to learn about the teaching methods in the UK. The only negative thing was I was marked down a lot on one of the papers I had to write because I didn't use a primary source. I was not told that it was a primary source, and I wouldn't have known without someone telling me, so it was a little frustrating.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Strengths - being able to contact anyone that was part of the program almost 24/7 Weaknesses - some of the excursions were set for days that were really hard on the students

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

The food is wonderful! Try anything and everything.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Going anywhere was a historical learning experience.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Stirling is an overall safe place. Like anywhere, just make sure to never go anywhere alone.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
