Boston University: London - London Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I am so glad I chose to study abroad. I learned so much about myself and the world around me. This experience was easily the highlight of my college career and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It was an incredibly worthwhile experience and I'd recommend it to every student.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The courses were pretty comparable to the one's at my home institution (PC). However, most of the work was concentrated towards the end of the course which could be a good or bad thing depending on the student.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Staff members were always available to students.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The neighborhood was simply amazing. However, the area was quite expensive.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Through just going out meeting people and working with other young adults during my internship really helped me feel immersed into the local culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Never felt unsafe. There were reports of muggings and the like but if one proceeds with caution and common sense as they would in any major city they will be just fine.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is super expensive so SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! I really didn't grasp how much I was spending until half-way through the program

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 100
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! Plan travel trips fairly early to get the best deals.

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
