London: Round Two Past Review

By (Communication and Media Studies., Trinity University) for

Boston University: London - London Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was an amazing opportunity and I wouldn't take it back for anything. It was interesting and different going a second time, especially as a senior. I was able to balance my time better this time around with traveling to other places, seeing the city, and having a sort of professional prospective as a full-time intern.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload and the way the programme was set up was great. I liked having two sections...one with two classes and another with a full time internship, one class, and one internship supplementary class. It was great to be able to finish half of the academic work during the first half of the semester.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I thought they were pretty helpful and knowledgeable about things that were going on.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

It was good because we had full kitchens with cookware and utensils already in there. All we had to do was buy our own groceries and cook our own meals.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The horseback riding weekend in Wales was great as well as the day trips. I enjoyed the Leeds Castle/Canterbury trip as well as the one to Brighton.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I found the city to be very safe and I didn't have any health problems while there.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Try to budget with groceries and with going out through the semester so that you'll be able to enjoy the last weeks of your time abroad (trying to finish everything that was on your bucket or to-do list).

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
