Greece was the best decision I have ever made Past Review

By (EDUCATION., University of Arkansas - Fayetteville) for

Arcadia: Athens - Arcadia in Greece

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was worth everything. I learned so much from when I went but its one of those things that cannot be described because it is what you make of it. No one person can have the same type of experience I had.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

We only had two papers and a final exam. The two papers were a little challenging because the school was not always open for us to access the materials we needed but Arcadia was quick to help us in anyway they could.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program administration made everything easier for us. Their only weakness was the building not being open when it said it would be

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My apartment was the closest to the school and the little square. It was amaxing people really got to know you because they saw you everyday

* Food:

I had no dietary restrictions but if you do Greece may not be the place for you if you want to eat at local restaurants

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We went to Turkey as part of our class and it was so much fun. And a few friends and I travelled inbetween sessions to Berlin and after the class ended to Rome.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe no matter where we were. Safety was a non issue for me.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I went to Greece with $4,000. I spent all of it. I must have spent at least 200 euro a week on myself. the exchange rate is what killed me.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? ATM fees are really bad and the exchange rate especially since it fluctuates while you are there.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
