API (Academic Programs International): London - University of Westminster

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a sense of maturity I believe because it was the first time I was in a country where I knew LITERALLY no one prior, and the first time I traveled to multiple countries on my own

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The academic side was a little difficult at first but then i figured it out a bit more

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

this was pretty good

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

GREAT HOUSING

* Food:

Food was good, it just wasn't accommodated with us, and so we had to get food ourselves

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

wonderfully, I ended up making better friendships with people in the country than those who were actually in the program, in part because most of them came from the SAME university

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

N/A

* Safety:

It was generally safe

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

because this program and my housing had, rather than kept all the students together as if it was one big tour, instead gave us all freedom to actually let us not only explore London, but experience it in a very adult way.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

someone easy, my only issue really was see just HOW expenses :ondon was

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? a minimum of 10 pouds,
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? some may not want to do this, but I actually walked everywhere, rather than took cabs, the bus, or underground. Even when the classes were on Harrow Campus, perhaps i think one time, I left three hours before my class just to walk ALL THE WAY there.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? I have a learning dissability in Language and speech so I hadn't really had any to begin with
How many hours per day did you use the language? 0
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? N/A
