Review Your Program

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

A lot of practical experience in narrowed areas, but most knowledge was picked up on own accord rather than being taught.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

2.5. The U.K. is very expensive, especially with the currency conversion and conversion fees. Because food and travel was not included, budgeting was not impossible but not cheap.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 50-100
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Don't eat out/drink all the time. It's nice to be acquainted with the culture and food, but there are other ways. Book travel online and in advance to get cheaper tickets.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Practical experience
  • Time to travel
  • You're in the highlands!
* What could be improved?
  • Planning of individual program/coordination of travel company with supervisor
  • Letting intern know exactly what internship is/where it is/living situation earlier before hand
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I should have been more apt about exactly what I wanted out of my program. I did get a lot of practical, hands on experience, but it was in one area. In terms of gaining credit from a university, I should have asked for a specific project.
