"Yes it was worthwhile. It satisfied my academic/intellectual interests (urban studies). It provided a good break from the stressful environment at Wellesley and gave me a good perspective moving forward. I also value my travel experience in Europe very much. Opened my eyes to a lot of things and will serve as a source of inspira..."

"Yes - I got to see a lot of the country, which is gorgeous, and I learned a lot about local culture and natural resource management. My field research experience will definitely help me in my future environmental work."
Pin P Wellesley College
"Yes. I got to live in a whole new country for four months. I met friends I know I will forever keep. I was taken out of my comfort zone and forced to spend such a long period of time with complete strangers in a country different from America."
Ashley K Wellesley College
"It was definitely a worthwhile experience! I learned a lot about myself and experienced more in one semester than I had hoped I would in my entire college career."
A student Wellesley College
"I gained much more travel experience; I was able to visit countries that I don't think I would otherwise ever get to see. I learned a lot more Spanish, and a lot more about Spanish culture as well. It's one thing to read about Spain and speak Spanish in class, it's another to experience it firsthand. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about living independently in an unfamiliar environment and I think I became more resilient and healthy. "
A student Wellesley College
"I improved my Spanish skills significantly, learned about Chilean culture, and enjoyed the courses I took. It was definitely worthwhile. "
A student Wellesley College
"Yes! I've definitely changed a lot, but in a good way. I understand myself better, and my experiences here have really opened my mind to a lot of new and different things."
Cat Z Wellesley College
"Studying abroad in Dunedin was definitely worthwhile! I was given the opportunity to explore and have fun without the typical stress of a college student schedule. On several occasions I was given the opportunity to put school aside and play for a week at a time. I grew in ways and learned new things that I typically wouldn't be..."
A student Wellesley College
"Above all else, I gained a deeper understanding of myself, my level of independence and how well I cope with new environments. It was eye-opening and showed me things I can improve on."
Ran J Wellesley College
"I gained a more in depth knowledge of my subject. It was worthwhile"
A student Wellesley College
"Yes it really was. The confidence and independence that you find while studying abroad, especially in a vibrant city like london, really helps you start to feel like an adult. "
Clara B Wellesley College
"A lot of scientific writing skills, South African history and culture, living with a large group. Definitely worth while."
A student Wellesley College
"When I first arrived three months ago, I had little confidence in my ability to thrive in a new environment that required a large amount of independence, maturity and willingness to take risks. Moving to Copenhagen for four months threw me far out of my zone of comfort and familiarity. Beginning when I stepped on the plane in..."
Linnea J Wellesley College
"It was more than worthwhile to study abroad at UCL. The academic structure is quite different, so I learned how to adapt to that academic environment."
A student Wellesley College
"This experience affirmed my passion for field work and research. I made the most amazing friends and went to so many beautiful places. The academics could be challenging at times, but I never felt too overwhelmed. Wish I had been able to explore some of the places we went to more sometimes, but was often hindered by the amount o..."
Lara Jones Wellesley College
"I hadn't traveled before so I think it was really great to just be somewhere other than the U.S. and get to know the culture/political climate/way of life. I also was able to travel all over Europe for not very much money, which was awesome."
A student Wellesley College
"The most valuable aspect of studying abroad in London was learning to live independently. Budgeting, cooking, and time managing are some of the skills I developed during the semester. I would say I now feel more comfortable living on my own, adjusting to an urban setting, and balancing my time --the experience was definitely wor..."
A student Wellesley College
"It was worthwhile because of the language component, and the places I got to visit. It was interesting because I got a different perspective on environmental studies."
Julia W Wellesley College
"Yes, definitely worthwhile - learned how to travel efficiently and balance this with school"
A student Wellesley College
"Being able to live in the center of London. "
A student Wellesley College
"I can write essays more efficiently and am better at organising my own work time. I know more about the ways I learn best, and how far I can (and can't push myself). It was a difficult year in many ways, but ultimately a very rewarding one. "
A student Wellesley College
"I'm so happy to have had the chance to go abroad and finally put my language skills to the test!"
A student Wellesley College
"It was difficult moving to a new place with little of the language and no one I knew! Though it took quite a while to settle in, I'm really grateful for the time I spent in Paris. Traveling around Europe was also life changing, very worthwhile!"
