University of Edinburgh: Edinburgh - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
the content of my classes helped me narrow down my career goals and interests, so now I feel more hopeful and confident in what I might like to do in the future.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I did not understand how I was meant to receive healthcare in the program if I ever needed it, but luckily I never needed it.

* Safety:

Edinburgh seems a very safe and walkable city; never encountered any issues

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

As the title suggests, I had a fun time meeting new people and exploring Scotland, but I don't think the university was the right fit for me, and I never felt like my professors cared about whether or not I learned anything

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

the groceries were much less expensive than they are in the US, but the laundry in student housing was very expensive

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $60
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? set a weekly budget and stick to it; withdraw that amount of money in cash for the week and try not to spend too much with a credit/debit card; add coffee into your budget from the beginning if you're like me and you need to
