Lebanon is a country in western Asia located along the Mediterranean Sea and bordered by Syria and Israel. Due to it’s location, Lebanon can be characterized by a diverse history and rich culture. It wasn't until 1943 that Lebanon gained it’s independence and then established the political system of confessionalism. The capital city in Lebanon is Beirut, which received the number one travel destination in 2009 by the New York Times.
