"The clinical practicum and biochemistry course for pre-meds was the academic highlight of this experience. Wellesley and Jacobs were also rather felxible in allowing certain classes to fulfill distribution requirements, which I appreciated. Though the academics at Jacobs itself was lackluster, the overall experience prevented me..."

"In terms of learning German, probably not. This was particularly difficult, despite my best efforts. I did gain a much better understanding of Austrian politics, culture, and history through my study abroad experience. Most of this is the result of my own interest (I read the paper every day, discussed politics with Austrian..."
Megan H Wellesley College
"I did learn a lot through my own efforts and it was worthwhile because I had never lived abroad for a year. But I could have had that on any program or on a gap year with my own money."
Elin N Wellesley College
"It was worthwhile from an academic standpoint, I learned a lot about European economics and improved my independent study skills. The social aspects weren't as colorful as I expected. "
Siwen C Wellesley College
"It was a different focus on public health that I didn't have. I do not think it is as worthwhile as I wish it could have been."
Idalmis V Wellesley College
"It was worthwhile - I personally grew and became more confident"

"it was worthwhile in the sense that i got to spend time in Paris. I just didn't particularly like the type of education I received."
McGraw L Wellesley College
"I learned how much I appreciate the American university system and overall the American way of life. It was a nice semester to hang out and relax, and it certainly made me appreciate what I left back home, but I would not do it again. "

"I feel that this experience provided me with an opportunity for personal growth. I felt that it was extremely challenging and did not meet my expectations for cultural and social experiences. "

"I found myself surprised and sometimes shocked at French people's attitudes on things, which made me appreciate my own culture so much more. I do think it was worthwhile because it gives you a different perspective on how foreigners are treated outside their country. Being somewhere where people do not speak your first language ..."

"I did learn some cultural differences through my host family. My French level did improve a little but not as drastically as I had hoped."

"It was an interesting, but not necessarily worthwhile experience. I am somewhat glad I experienced it, but I am not pleased with the monetary cost it took to have it. I felt constantly out of place in Berlin (as an American and as an Asian) and I was incredibly disappointed by the fact that we were not able to take many/most of ..."

"I would definitely regret not coming to Japan when I had the chance, so I'm glad I went through with it and spent a semester in Tokyo. At times, I feel like it was an academic waste of a semester, but outside of the academics, I've made a lot of memories that have made it worthwhile. After being in Japan, I feel like its unneces..."
Alicia B Wellesley College
"I learned a great deal about myself and how I relate to the world. However, my study abroad experience was unlike most students at Wellesley because of several tragedies that happened while in Amsterdam and at home involving my family. I am still processing and personally don't feel ready to reflect on what I have learned. I am ..."

"I think my experience was definitely worthwhile. I learned a lot about myself and other ways of thinking. "

"I learned a lot because I put in the work. Nothing in London was easy and felt no support from UCL or my home college. "
Grace Hellstrom Wellesley College
"I would not consider it worthwhile. I learned about a new culture and got to see a cool city, but I would have preferred to have visited on my own time instead of while studying abroad."

"Language acquisition and Brazilian historical knowledge. This program was not worthwhile and if I could do it over again, I would stay on campus. Please note that I have studied abroad internationally before as well as lived abroad in southern Africa for 2 years; my negative experience with this program was not due to difficulty..."

"I had the irreplaceable experience of making a 16mm film from beginning to end of the process. It was worthwhile. "

"The food was good."

"I learned how to live in a huge, international city. I learned how to get through a very tough situation while alone. I learned a lot about myself, like that I shouldn't move to a foreign country where I don't know a single person. These are worthwhile lessons, but at a steep cost."

"My French improved. I was able to take better notes in class and speak it more fluently. But being an international student, I've already seen the culture and knew what to expect in France, so the experience in Paris and Aix didn't really fascinate me. "
