Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Larger class sizes, less rigorous, and more emphasis on final exam than at Middlebury. Good library.

On-site administration of your program

Never really dealt with admin people, which I guess means they did a good job.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

University flats offers excellent housing with spacious rooms and good kitchens. Only bummer is there isn't internal heating, so bring some warm pjs.

Plenty of good restaurants in town, but the vast majority of meals are from the grocery store.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Most Kiwis tried to make you feel at home.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Never had an issue.

As safe as any decent-sized urban area can be expected to be.

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

New Zealand is an expensive country, and there's nothing you can do about it. But given the expensiveness of everything from food to gas, a student's budget, adjusted to NZ prices, is very doable.

• I guess the classes could have been better. But I came to NZ to hike and climb and kayak and explore, so I'm not to worried about that.
