University College London (UCL): London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
yes I loved my experience but UCL had too much work

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

UCL is definitely very academically rigorous and competitive

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Registering for classes is tough. The history department at UCL is very helpful with this and the entire study abroad process, however, I know that friends in other UCL departments had a really difficult time and had little help.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived with family friends

* Food:

The food is London is not nearly as bad as everyone says, however, it is expensive.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

You can become as integrated as you want. UCL students are generally nice and inclusive. It is very easy to just sort of fall in with the other American students though, especially because the program is so short.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

doctors are great.

* Safety:

I rarely felt unsafe in most parts of London

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is really expensive especially because of the exchange rate with the pound

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? not sure
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? cook, do not buy drinks at clubs

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
