By (Engineering, Middlebury College) - abroad from 06/24/2021 to 06/07/2022 with

Middlebury - Dartmouth Engineering Dual Degree: Domestic Exchange in New Hampshire

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was truly worthwhile. I took great classes and learned a lot. I made friends and built cool projects. I was on a sports team and competed at a higher level than I ever thought I could.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The courses were challenging, but rewarding. All the resources I needed were available to me. I learned a lot.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The Dartmouth admin in charge of my program was very helpful.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in Dartmouth dorms. They were small but okay. I never got to choose my roommates, which I didn't like.

* Food:

It was standard college food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I did not interact with the town of Hanover, but I felt like I was a part of the school.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

The closest thing to this was sports medicine, which was helpful when I needed it.

* Safety:

I usually felt safe, even walking around late at night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

My only other option for engineering would have been Columbia. I prefer the Dartmouth campus and the 2-1-1-1 nature. I wouldn't give up engineering.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was the same as Middlebury.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 0
