"I gained international perspective, a multicultural education, and insight into another part of the world. "My time spent abroad was neither fantastic nor was it is horrible. It was interesting but nothing life changing. After studying abroad, I am more appreciative of the benefits of living in the United States, which include not having to pay to use the restroom or having sidewalks. Studying abroad made me more understanding of h..."

"It was worthwhile for the traveling experience more than the class. Dr. Kashef is a great teacher, it's just that there was more to see in a tourist sense than to learn about the environment."
Ashley L University of Northern Iowa
"I learned how to be independent and discovered who I am while studying abroad. Being exposed to a variety of people with different backgrounds and nationalities exposed me to new views and ideals and made me appreciate where I come from, but also crave adventures to other countries. "

"Yes. Although it was very expensive and I spent a lot of money over there, it was worth it. I learned about how other people live and in the process, learned more about myself. Having this information will help me out in my career because my major is psychology and I plan on counseling people. This will help because I'll be able..."

"It was fun being in different cultures. I had not traveled to a country before that our money was actually worth less in, that was an interesting change. I would like to return to France and get out of the city, I feel like it would be a whole different experience. Paris was just dirty, smelly, and filled with people trying to g..."

"I learned how to adapt quickly and to learn to take whatever comes at you. I think it was worthwhile and I learned more than I thought I would, but possibly for the wrong reasons."
A student University of Northern Iowa
"I learned many lessons in professional and respect, primarily through negative examples. I learned about some of the cultural similarities and differences between the U.S. and Central America. However, I don't feel that my time was necessarily worthwhile, I could have learned some much more had the trip been run differently. "
A student University of Northern Iowa
"I was forced to grow as a person and learn how to stand up for myself, because the people who said they would and were supposed to be there for our interest, didn't."
