Austin College
University Information
Austin College's Center for Global Learning facilitates Semester Abroad Studies and JanTerms. If a student would like to spend a semester abroad with Austin College, the he/she should stop by our office (Wright Campus Center #204) to begin the process. It is extremely important to go through the process in the office, otherwise the College will be unable to send the student's financial aid to the program and the student will need to withdraw from Austin College during their semester or year abroad. The Center's goal is to make each student's experience abroad a meaningful and engaging experience. In order for that to happen, students are required to go through the process in place at the Center.
We look forward to working with you and please read about other student's reviews and experiences at the different programs and locations that can be found at Abroad101.
Important Dates and Deadlines
As of right now, there are no firm deadlines in place for you to complete the Abroad101 Survey. However, before we can post your transcript from your sojourn abroad, you must complete the Abroad101 Survey and interview with the director (Truett Cates).
Thank you very much for your help and cooperation with this. We look forward to hearing about your time and experiences abroad!
"I learned so much about the locals and culture. But I really learned a lot about myself, as far as my strengths and weaknesses go. Being outside of your comfort zone forces you to confront those issues head on. "

"Yes definitely. it brought me a better understanding of the word "different". and of the sentence. "it is not better, it is not worse, it is different". I think (and I hope) that I have gained in tolerance and awareness toward others. The experience reinforced my wish to work abroad."

"It was definitely an experience that I believe every student should have. I had the semester of a lifetime in Spain. By the end of my stay, I didn't have the heart to leave the city and only returned home with promising to come back again. I learned a lot about the type of person I am and the type of person I would like to be. B..."

"Before I went to Argentina South America seemed to be almost this forgotten vestige of the world. It's seems so separate from the US, Eurasia, and Africa. But now it seems such much closer, so much more open and I really want to travel and become acquainted with more South American countries."

"There are so many things that I gained from going abroad (to many in my opinion to even begin to discuss). It was the most memorable and best thing that I have ever been given the privilege of doing. I encourage everyone to go somewhere and really try to assimilate to the culture. Your life will not be the same. "

"My study abroad experience was fantastic. I absolutely loved it and I am so glad I decided to go to Greece. I'm a classics major so it was really rewarding to go to Athens, where so many things happened in the classical world. Every day I saw the Acropolis from my school and that made it even more breath taking. This is my 3rd..."

"Extremely. Although I had many complaints about the program that I chose (not the internship aspect, but Arcadia), I got out of the trip exactly what I wanted to. Sometimes you have to move passed the inconveniences and make the trip what you want it to be. "
Lillie F Austin College
"yes. I just had a blast. Culture isn't that huge. Its just a funny little aspect. "
Mark P Austin College
"Absolutely. It's hard to put a value on what I've learned while I'm still here--it won't be until I have to change back that I'm really aware of what I have gained."

"Without a doubt one of the best experiences of my life."

"The biggest thing I gained from this program is independence in a foreign country. It's intimidating at first when you are wondering about a country and not understand what people are saying around you. However, you learn how to get around independently and develop basic conversation with individuals. I wouldn't trade thi..."
