King's College London: London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
For me, although I had complaints, it was worthwhile. I had never been abroad before, and I needed to get away from Wellesley for a bit.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Rigor and intensity were good, resources were not.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Wasn't a program, it was direct enrollment.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Not a lot of support from King's, very difficult to get involved.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I was very sick and did not find the health services useful- essentially told me to rest and deal with the coursework I had missed.

* Safety:

Never felt unsafe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

I just felt a total lack of support and felt that I had been blindsided about the internship aspect of the program.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was easy for me because I was working both semesters, but that put a huge damper on my social and academic life. Also, because I don't go out a lot, it was very cheap, but London life is tre expensive.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? around 50 USD

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes

The Academic or Linguist
You went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you!
