University of Westminster: London - Study Abroad Semester or Year with an Optional Internship

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
As a longtime traveller I found it inspiring to be able to study as well as catch up with family and friends in a city for an extended period and I gained new insights into London , a city very close to my heart

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The teachers were incredibly supportive and the course was well set up. The campus itself was well set up to provide all the technical help I needed

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Its very expensive in London

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I grew up in the UK and lived for many years in London so felt very happy to be back.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe all the time but I am a mature age student who knew the city very well

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Im studying for a Masters degree but would consider studying abroad if that is possible

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was tricky as transport is very expensive as is accomodation...but overall I managed and learnt how to save as I found cheaper shops to buy essentials.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? approx.(including rent- 250) 370 pounds
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? its good to apply for a transport pass before you go so you save money when you get there and if you can stay in student accomodation or near where you are studying, to save money on transport
