Perfectly Unique Past Review

The Education Abroad Network (TEAN): Dunedin - University of Otago

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
As unsettling as it can be to move to the other side of the earth for five months, TEAN made the experience feel like I never left home. The TEAN staff encourage students to explore and learn about New Zealand, which helped me become spontaneous and allowed me experiences I could have never dreamed of. Being able to visit Fiji on the pre-semester excursion was an incredible experience and many of my friends in other study abroad programs were envious of my travels with TEAN. The South Island was also perfect for me because of the endless hiking tracks, ski mountains, camp sites, bungy jumping, and breathtaking scenery around every corner. Telling my abroad stories and hearing others has made me realize how perfectly unique my experience with TEAN was in Dunedin. The opportunity to visit three other countries (Australia, Fiji, and Tonga) and explore the majority of New Zealand was something most people weren't able to do in five months. My experience through TEAN was unforgettable and I now have a second home in the Southern Hemisphere.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
