Study Abroad Programs in Italy

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I had to deal with extreme heat, food poisoning, power outage, and mosquitoes, but enjoyed my time there so much. I feel like I know so much more about Europe and Italian excellence.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was really long days being in class from 9:30 to 5:30. They didn't have really any techniques to teaching. The field trips really helped me process what we were learning and see if first hand.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was located in a part of the city where there were prostitution. The apartment didn't have air conditioning so we got really hot at night to the point that we woke up dehydrated on some of the really hot nights. The windows didn't have screens on them either so we were eaten alive by mosquitoes. It was one of the worst living conditions I have been in for a while. I would not recommend this to anyone.

* Food:

I am gluten intolerant and was shown where I could buy food to accommodate me.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I enjoyed all the field trips and the events they put on for us.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

N/A

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
